OPERATION
IMPORTANT:
•DoNOT operate starter for longer than 15 seconds at a time.
• If engine does not start, wait at least two minutes before trying again.
• After the third 15 second crank attempt, allow solenoid to cool for 10 minutes before further cranking attempts.
If engine still does not start, refer to Engine Troubleshooting.
Cold Start
WARNING
If starter engages with steering wheel unlocked, ground speed lever (GSL) out of NEUTRAL, or header
clutch engaged, DO NOT START ENGINE. See your Dealer.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT operate engine above 1500 rpm until engine temperature gauge is above 100°F (40°C).
When the engine temperature is below 40°F (5°C), follow the procedure for a normal start. Refer to Normal Start,
page 161. The engine will cycle through a period where it appears to labor until the engine warms up. The throttle
is nonresponsive during this time as the engine is in “WARM UP” mode. This mode will last from 30 seconds
to 3 minutes depending on the tempera tu re. After the engine has stabilized and is idling normally, the thro ttle
becomes active.
Engine Warmup
Allow engine to run wit h throttle lever (A) at or near
low idle position until temperature gauge (B) reaches
approximately 100°F (40°C).
NOTE:
Scroll through cab display module (CDM) for engine
temperature.
