Maintaining the Battery
CAUTION
Do NOT attempt to service battery unless you have the proper equipment and experience to perform the
job. Have it done by a qualified Dealer.
• Check battery charge once a year, more often if operat ing in cold weather. Hydromete r readin gs sho uld be 1.260
to 1.300. Readings below 1.250 indicate charging is required. Refer to Charging the Battery, page 370.Add
electrolyte if n ecessary. Refer to Adding Electrolyte to the Battery, page 372.
• Keep batteries clean by wiping with a damp cloth.
• Keep all connections clean and tight. Remove any corrosion and wash terminals with a solution of baking soda
and water. A light coating of grease on terminals (after cables are attached) will reduce corrosion.
• To prolong battery life, store batteries fully charged and at +20° to +80°F (-7° to +26°C). Check voltage after
storage and recharge as needed according to battery and charger manufacturer recommendations.
•DoNOT stack storage batteries on top of each other.
Battery Main Disconnect Switch
A battery main disconnect switch is located o n t he
right cab-forward side frame rail, just behind the
batteries, and can be easily accessed by moving the
maintenance platform.
Ensure the switch is in the POWER OFF position when
servicing electrical components, or to prevent loss of
battery charge when the windrower will not be used for
long p eriods.
