4.3.5.6 Terminating a Link
Softkey Type Description
Activate 1. Press 'Terminate Link' softkey to return to
'Listening' state.
When the linked stations have finished com-
municating, it is necessary to terminate the link
so that the stations can return to availability
(listening).
The link can be terminated in two ways:
• Manually by pressing this softkey 'Termi-
nate Link'.
• Automatically through an adjustable non-
activity timeout, see softkey ‘Link Timeout’
in ALE CFG menu.
In a voice link, any PTT activity retriggers
the link timeout, but incoming voice does
not.
In a data link the link is terminated automati-
cally and completely if there has been no in-
coming or outgoing data for longer than the
link timeout chosen in the ALE CFG 2/3 menu
(page 1222).
Terminating a net call from a called radio
does not terminate the links of the other
net participants.
