detailedunderwaterviewasyourvesselmovesforward..Thecoverageof
theSideVisionbeamsisanareatobothsideofyourvessel.
SideVisionbeams
Thetransducerssendpulsesofsoundwavesintothewateroneachside
ofyourvessel,andrecordsthesoundwavesthatarereflectedoffobjects
suspendedinthewatercolumnandthebottom,,knownassonarreturns.
Thesonarimageisconstructedline-by-line ,similartothewayatelevision
pictureiscomposedofmanyhorizontallines.Eachsuccessivepingfrom
thetransduceraddsanewlineofimagedatatothetopofyourdisplay.
Eachnewlineshowssonarreturnsfromboththeportandstarboardsidesof
yourvessel.Asnewlinesareaddedwitheachsuccessiveping,olderdata
graduallyscrollsdownthedisplay,buildingupadetailedimageofthewater
columnandbottomtothesidesofyourvessel.Ifyourvesselmaintainsthe
samebearingandspeedforaperiodoftime,youcaninterprettheimageas
aplanofthebottomalongyourvessel’scourse.SideVisioniseffectiveat
lowervesselspeeds.

SideVisiondoesnotprovidedirectdepthreadings.Thescaleshown
acrossthetopoftheimageindicatesthedistanceoffeaturesfromyour
vessel.

2.WaterUsingthedefaultcolorpaletteblackindicatesnosonarreturns
i.e.:clearwater.
