theSideVision™beamsisanareatobothsideofyourvessel.
SideVision™beams
Thetransducerssendpulsesofsoundwavesintothewateroneachside
ofyourvessel,andrecordsthesoundwavesthatarereflectedoffobjects
suspendedinthewatercolumnandthebottom,,knownassonarreturns.
Thesonarimageisconstructedline-by-line ,similartothewayatelevision
pictureiscomposedofmanyhorizontallines.Eachsuccessivepingfrom
thetransduceraddsanewlineofimagedatatothetopofyourdisplay.
Eachnewlineshowssonarreturnsfromboththeportandstarboardsidesof
yourvessel.Asnewlinesareaddedwitheachsuccessiveping,olderdata
graduallyscrollsdownthedisplay,buildingupadetailedimageofthewater
columnandbottomtothesidesofyourvessel.Ifyourvesselmaintainsthe
samebearingandspeedforaperiodoftime,youcaninterprettheimageas
aplanofthebottomalongyourvessel’scourse.SideVision™iseffectiveat
lowervesselspeeds.
