GLOBAL > ARP Pattern
Here’s where you can create user arpeggio patterns.
You can use “Arp Pattern Select” in the ARP DRUM page
for each mode (among other places) to select and use the
arpeggio patterns you’ve edited.
Before editing an arpeggio pattern
Selecting a program that will sound
On this page, the program will sound as it was in the mode
that was used just before entering GLOBAL mode.
When switching from PROGRAM mode: The arpeggio
pattern set in the selected program will be edited here. Even
if the arpeggiator was off when you switched from the
Program, you can use the ARP button to turn it on.
When switching from COMBINATION mode: The
arpeggio pattern set in the selected Combination will be
edited here. Even if the arpeggiator was off when you
switched from the Combination settings, you can use the
ARP button to turn it on. However, the arpeggiator may not
sound even when turned on, depending on the settings.
Check the arpeggiator MIDI channel settings or the timbre
settings.
When switching from SEQUENCER mode: The arpeggio
pattern set in the selected Song will be edited here. Even if
the arpeggiator was off when you switched from
SEQUENCER mode, you can use the ARP button to turn it
on. However, the arpeggiator may not sound even when
turned on, depending on the settings. Check the arpeggiator
MIDI channel settings or the timbre settings.
In the cases above, you can still change the arpeggio pattern
settings even while the arpeggiator is not turned on. When
editing a pattern, turn the arpeggiator on and make sure that
this is the pattern to edit.
Checking the memory protect settings
Before you start editing an arpeggio pattern, go to the
“Memory Protect” section of the Global Basic Setup page,
and make sure that “ARP Pattern” is off (cleared). If this is
selected, you won’t be able to save the data.
Things to be aware of when using an arpeggio
pattern in multiple Programs
When you edit a arpeggio pattern, this will have an effect on
all Programs and Combinations that use that arpeggio
pattern. To edit a preloaded arpeggio pattern, you might want
to copy it to an unused arpeggio pattern first and then edit it.
You can save the edited arpeggio patterns on the
NAUTILUS from the dialog box in the “Write Arpeggio
Patterns” page menu command. If you turn off the power
of the NAUTILUS before saving the data, you won’t be
able to restore it. Also, this save command will save all of
the arpeggio patterns.
