Acasemanuallystarts/apatientisadmittedwhenanypatientdataisentered
orloaded.Patientdatacanbeenteredlocallyusingthemonitor,loadedfroman
Admit-Discharge-Transfer(ADT)serverovertheCARESCAPENetwork,orentered
remotelyusingacentralstation.IfthemonitorisconnectedtotheS/5Network,
patientandtrenddatacanbeloadedtothemonitorfromiCentral.Notrenddatacan
beloadedfromtheCARESCAPENetwork.
Alwaysobservethemonitorandthepatientcarefullyduringstart-upperiodsand
wheninsertingacquisitionmodules.
CAUTION
-Dischargetoclearpatientdata-Whenadmittinganew
patient/startinganewcase,youmustclearallprevious
patientdatafromthesystem.Toaccomplishthis,besure
theacquisitionmoduleissecurelymounted,disconnectthe
patientcables,thendischargethepreviouspatient/endthe
case.
Thefollowingaregenericinstructionslistingthebasicstepsforstartingmonitoring.
Parameter-specicinstructionsaremoredetailedandshouldalwaysbefollowedas
well.
1.Connectthepatienttothemonitoraccordingtothemeasurementsetup
requirements.Thealarmsandparametersettingsbecomeactive.
2.Ifthestartupproleisnotsuitable,selectanotherprole.
3.Enterpatientdemographics,orload/combinethedata.
4.Startthemeasurement.
5.Zeroinvasivepressurelines.
6.Ifrequired,changetheparametersonscreen.
7.Checkalarmlimitsandadjustifnecessary.
Aboutthecombinationmonitoringmode
Thecombinationmonitoringisalicensedfeature.Incombinationmonitoringmode
ECGisacquiredfromatelemetryreceiversystem.ThisECGdataacquisitioncapability
enhancesbasictelemetrymonitoringbyprovidingaccesstoalloftheavailable
parametersfrombedsidemonitors,whileacquiringtheECGdatafromtelemetry.In
thismonitoringmode,alldata—localandtelemetry—isviewedatthecentralstation
andthebedsidemonitor.However,anyhistoricaldatastoredatthecentralstationwill
beunavailable.Anynewalarmhistorysamplescreatedonthetelemetrytransmitter
cannotbeviewedonthemonitoriftheyarecreatedafterthecombinationmonitoring
hasbeenstarted.Onlythesnapshotscreatedonthemonitorandthesamplesof
thetelemetrytransmittercreatedpriortostartingthecombinationmonitoringcan
beviewed.
ThecombinationmonitoringmodecanbeenabledthroughMonitorSetup>Default
Setup>CareUnitSettings>Telemetry>MonitororTelemetry,andthesettingis
passwordprotected.ThemonitorneedstobeconguredtotheCARESCAPENetwork.
ThisoptioncannotbeusedintheNICUsoftwarepackage.
Incasethetelemetrypatienthasbeenadmittedwhenthedeviceisconnectedtothe
monitor,thearrhythmiaalarmprioritiesandlimitalarmpriorities(exceptincasethe
