TheDINAMAPClassictechnologymeasuresthemeanarterialpressure,then
determinesthesystolicanddiastolicvalues.Thetechnologyexaminespulsesfromthe
cuffandwaitsfortwosequentialpulsesequalinbothfrequencyandamplitude.Itwill
notdeatethecuffuntilithasgooddata.Artifactandfalsepulsesarerejected.
Therstdeterminationinitiallypumpsuptoatargetcuffpressureof160mmHgfor
adult,140mmHgforchildor110mmHgforinfant.Theinitialtargetpressurepreset
canbeadjustedtoalower(orhigher)initialtargetpressure.
PDMandTRAMusetheDINAMAPStepDeationtechnology.Duringthedeation
process,themonitormeasurestwoconsecutivepulsationsincuffpressure.Iftheir
amplitudediffersbyanacceptablysmallamountandthetimeintervalbetweenthe
pulsationsmatchestheprevioustimeintervals,thepulsationsareaveragedand
storedalongwiththecorrespondingcuffpressure.Thecuffisthendeatedtothe
nextstep(instepsof5-10mmHg).Asthedeationoccurs,oscillationwavesare
assessedforstrengthandamplitudeuntilthemaximumoscillationamplitudeor
MAPisobtained.
Ifeitheroftheabovecriteriaisnotmet,thecuffpressureismaintaineduntiltwo
consecutivepulsationsaredetectedthatmeetthecriteria.Eventually,ifthecuffis
maintainedatonepressurestepforlongerthanoneminuteorthedeterminationtime
exceedstwominutes,themonitorwilltimeoutanddisplayanerror.
