alarmindicatesthatthesystemisnolongermonitoring
arrhythmiaorheartratefromECG.Ifyouadjustthealarm
prioritylevellowerthanthedefaultvalue,keepthepatient
underclosesurveillance.
Arrhythmiameasurementlimitations
●Sincethearrhythmiadetectionalgorithmsensitivityandspecicityislessthan
100%,sometimestheremaybesomefalsearrhythmiasdetectedandalsosome
truearrhythmiaeventsmaynotbedetected.Thisisespeciallytruewhenthesignal
isnoisy.
●TheECGsizeandQRSwidthsettingsaffectarrhythmiadetectionandheartrate
calculationsensitivity.
●IfQRSamplitudeislow,themonitormightnotbeabletocalculateHRandfalse
Asystolemayoccur.
●Duringthelearningphaseofthealgorithm,arrhythmiadetectionmaynotbe
available.Asaresult,thepatientconditionshouldbecloselymonitoredduring
thelearningphaseandforseveralminutesafterthelearningphasetoallowthe
algorithmtoreachoptimaldetectionperformance.
●NotallECGacquisitiondevicesrecognizethesamesetofarrhythmias.For
example,telemetrymonitoringdevicesandTRAMdonotrecognizeSVTachy,
MultifocalPVCs,andMissingbeat,butthesewillberecognizedbydeviceslike
PDMandPSM.Additionalarrhythmiarecognitionmaybeaddedinfutureversions
ofmonitoringdevices.Becauseremotedeviceslikecentralstationsmaynotbe
awareofallarrhythmiasrecognizedbyacquisitiondevices,themonitoringdevices
renamesomearrhythmiaswhentheyaresenttothenetwork.Monitoringdevices
renamethefollowingarrhythmiaswhensendingthemtothenetwork:
