Whenstartingrespirationmonitoring,thesystem“learns”thepatient’srespiration
pattern.Therespirationrateiscalculatedfromimpedancechangesandarespiration
waveformisdisplayed.
RespirationmeasurementwithPSM
WithimpedancerespirationSensitivitysettoAUTO,twobreathsareaveragedand
theaverageamplitudeoftherespirationwaveformisfound.Detectionsensitivity
isautomaticallysetatonehalfoftheaverageamplitude.Sensitivitydottedlines
displayedonthewaveformshowtheminimumdetectionrangewhichis25%.The
percentageistheratiotothereferencebarontheleftinthewaveformdisplay,which
correspondsto100%.TheusercanmanuallysettheimpedancerespirationSensitivity
to20%,40%,60%,80%,or100%andthesensitivitydottedlinesdisplayedonthe
waveformwillshowtheselecteddetectionrange.Thepercentageisshownwitha
referencebarthatcorrespondsto100%,meaningthatthe100%selectionusesthe
wholedrawingarea.Thebarisontheleftinthewaveformdisplay.
RespirationmeasurementwithPDMandTRAM
Eightbreathsareaveragedandtheaverageamplitudeoftherespirationwaveform
isfound.Detectionsensitivityisautomaticallysetat40%oftheaverageamplitude.
Sensitivitydottedlinesdisplayedonthewaveformshowthis40%detectionrange.
Oncelearningiscomplete,theusercanadjustthedetectionsensitivityto10,20,
30,40,50,60,70,80,or90%.
