Cardiacoutputwashoutcurve
Thewashoutcurve,whichdisplaysafteraC.O.injection,showsthedropinblood
temperatureastheinjectatemixeswiththeblood.Thepeakofthecurveindicatesthe
maximumdifferenceinthepatient’sbaselinebloodtemperatureandthetemperature
oftheinjectatesolution.Asthemixturepassesthroughthecatheterandthenoutthe
pulmonaryartery,thetemperaturedifferencedecreasesasindicatedbythecurve
returningtothebaseline.Aspikeisdisplayedattheonsetofthecurve,againat
70%ofthemaximumtemperaturedifference,andagainat35%ofthemaximum
temperaturedifference.SpikesarealsovisibleduringanongoingC.O.measurement.
