Systolicpressurevariationandpulsepressure
variation
Systolicpressurevariation(SPV)andpulsepressurevariation(PPV)canprovideuseful
informationforexamplewhenassessingtheeffectsofuidtherapyonthecardiac
outputofapatient.AparameterwindowwithbothSPVandPPVvaluesappearson
thedisplayprovidedthatSPVhasbeenselectedtothescreenandthearterialsite
selectedastheSPVsourceisactive.
TheSPVandPPVmeasurementisautomatic,andSPVcanalsobetakenmanually.
WiththeNICUsoftwarepackage,noautomaticSPVorPPVareavailable,onlythe
manualSPVcanbeused.
NOTE
TheSPVandPPVmeasurementsarereliableformechanically
ventilatedpatientswithnoarrhythmias,andwhenthearterial
siteselectedastheSPVsourceisprovidingreliablereadings.

1.Selecttheinvasivepressureparameterwindow.
2.SelectArt,ABP,FemorUAC.
3.SelecttheSetuptab.
4.SelectSPVSource>Art,ABP,Fem,orUAC.Youcanalsoturnoffthemeasurement
byselectingOff(default).
MeasuringSPVmanually
TheSPVcanalsobemeasuredmanually.InadditiontoECG1andtheselectedSPV
