monitordisplaytoensurethatthemonitorrecognizesblockages.

thenbackonagainintheCO

setupmenu.Thepumpwillturnbackonandthe
modulewillreturntonormaloperation.
12.Connectthesamplelinetothepatient.Ensurethatthetubingisnothanging
lowerthanthepatient.
NOTE
Deliveryofbronchodilatorsand/ormucolyticsviaaerosoland
meterdoseinhalerscanbecorrosiveandcausepremature
blockageofthewatertrap.Discontinuesidestreamgas
analysispriortotreatmentbyswitchingthepumpoffand
removingthesamplelinefromthebreathingcircuit.
CalibratingtheDualCO2sensor
SensorcalibrationshouldbeperformedwheneverthemessageCalibratesensor
appears.
1.PlacethesensorawayfromallsourcesofCO
2
,includingthepatient’sexhaled
breath,yourexhaledbreath,andventilatorexhaustvalves.
2.Withthecableconnectedtothemodule,selectagasrelatedparameterwindow>
Calibration.
3.Placethesensoronthecellmarked0andselectStartCalibrating.
4.AfterthemessageZeroedappears,removethesensorfromthe0cellandattach
ittothecellmarkedREF.
ThemeasuredEtCO
2
valueappearsintheConnectsensortoREFcellwindow.If
thevaluestaysbetween36and40mmHgforthreesecondsduringthe20-second
calibration,thecalibrationissuccessfulandthemessageCalibratedappears.Ifthe
calibrationfails,themessageRecalibrateappearsinstead.Inthiscase,perform
anewcalibration.
CalibratingtheDualCO2adapter
AdaptercalibrationshouldbeperformedwheneverthemessageCheck/calibr.
adapterappears.
1.PlacethesensorandadapterawayfromallsourcesofCO
2
,includingthepatient’s
exhaledbreath,yourexhaledbreath,andventilatorexhaustvalves.
2.Withtheadapterconnectedtothesensorandthesensorconnectedtothe
monitor(and,whenused,allsidestreamtubingattachedandthepumpturned
on),selectagasrelatedparameterwindow.
3.SelecttheCalibrationtab.
4.SelectStartCalibrating.
ThemessageCalibratedappearsonthescreenafterasuccessfulcalibration.Ifthe
calibrationfails,themessageCalibrationerrorappearsinstead.Inthiscase,perform
anewcalibration.
