thewatertrapisproperlyconnectedtotheairwaygasmodule.Gasleaksinthese
connectionsmaydilutethegassamplefromthepatientcircuit,thusresultingin
erroneousgasreadings.Duringnormaloperation,allsampledgasowsoutofthe
samplegasoutlet.Roomairisusedasreferencegasfortheoxygenmeasurement
anditismixedwiththesampledgas.Thesampledgasisdilutedbyroomairso
thatthefractionofroomairintheexhaustgasisabout20%.

attachthesamplinglinetothewatertrapafterthemonitorhascompletedthe
self-checkforthemodule.Attachthesamplinglinestothewatertrapbefore
