PreparingthePatientSpirometrymeasurement
1.TakeanewPatientSpirometrytubeandconnectthetubetotheD-lite(+)/Pedi-lite(+)
sensorbyinsertingtheangleconnectorsinthesensorconnectors.Placeall
D-lite(+)/Pedi-lite(+)portsupwardswithapproximatelya45°Ctilttoprevent
condensedwaterfromenteringthesensorinteriorandthetubings.
2.ConnecttheotherendofthePatientSpirometrytubetothepressureconnectors
onthemodule.
3.ConnectagassamplinglinetotheLuerconnectorontheothersideofthe
D-lite(+)/Pedi-lite(+)sensor.
4.Connecttheotherendofthegassamplinglinetothesamplinglineconnectoron
themodule’swatertrap.
5.Makesurethattheconnectionsaretight.
6.Selectthecorrectsensortype.
7.ConnecttheD-lite(+)/Pedi-lite(+)betweentheY-pieceandtheintubationtube
inthebreathingcircuit.
CheckingthePatientSpirometrymeasurement
1.Checkthatthewatertrapisempty.
2.OccludethesamplinglineandcheckthattheSamplelineblockedmessage
appearswithin30secondsandgaswaveformsareshowingzeroatthesametime.
3.Checkthattheloopsarewhole.Agapbetweenthestartingandendingpoints
mayindicatealeak.
UsingthePatientSpirometrymeasurement
SelectingthePatientSpirometrysensortype
Whenmonitoringpediatricpatientswithtidalvolumesof15mlto300ml,usethe
Pedi-lite/Pedi-lite+sensor.Forotherpatients,usetheD-lite/D-lite+sensor.Selectthe
sensortypeaccordingly.
1.SelectthePatientSpirometryparameterwindow.
2.SelectSetup.
3.Selectthesensortype(PediatricorAdult)fromtheSensorTypelist.
