Distance unit - DR300+ / DR PLUS
The DR300+ / DR PLUS distance unit is a pulsed laser EDM that determines distances by precisely
measuring the time of flight of the transmitted pulse laser. In simple terms the EDM generates many
short laser light pulses, which are transmitted through the telescope to the target. The pulses reflect
off the target and return to the instrument where electronics determine the time taken for the round
trip.
As the velocity of light through the medium can be accurately estimated, the travel time can be used
to calculate the distance (D) to the target.
