Regreasing Battery/Radio Axle and Bearing
Performance
Item Performance Action Result Notes
1 Remove the battery/
radio side cover
Lay the instrument on
the side with the
battery/radio side
cover up and remove
the battery/radio side
cover.
2 Remove the four screw
holding the axle
Note – Do not loosen
or remove the four
screws that hold the
bearing as this will
affect the accuracy of
the instrument
(marked with red cross
in see Fig. 5-50 on
page 5-52 )
3 Remove the axle Mount the Puller
Vertical Axle tool and
pull out the axle by
rotating the knob
clockwise, see Fig. 5-
50 on page 5-52 .
Note – Do not move
the instrument when
the axle is removed.

4 Clean the axle and the
bearing
Wipe the axle and
bearing clean with dry
paper.
5 Regrease the axle and
bearing
Apply a laurel of
grease on the axle and
bearing, see Fig. 5-51
on page 5-53
