Replacing Engine Oil Filter
NOTE:
Replace oil filter each time engine oil is changed. Refer to 8.2.4 Filter Part Numbers, page 462 for recommended oil
filter to use.
1. Open the hood. Refer to 5.2.1 Opening Hood (Lower Position), page 284.

2. Clean around filter head (A).
3. Remove filter (B).
4. Clean gasket mating surface.
5. Apply a thin film of clean oil to the gasket on the new
filter.
6. Screw the new filter onto the filter mount until the gasket
contacts the filter head.
7. Tighten the filter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn by hand.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT use a filter wrench to install the oil filter.
Overtightening can damage the gasket and filter.
8. Properly dispose of used filter.
Adding Engine Oil
Refer to inside back cover for recommended lubricants.
DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of machine, always stop engine and remove key
from ignition before leaving operator's seat for any reason.
1. Stop the engine and remove the key. Wait about 5 minutes.
2. Open the hood. Refer to 5.2.1 Opening Hood (Lower Position), page 284.

3. Remove filler cap (A) by turning it counterclockwise.
4. Carefully pour in the new oil. Use a funnel to avoid
spillage.
CAUTION
Do NOT fill above the HIGH mark.
5. Replace oil filler cap (A) and turn it clockwise until snug.
6. Check the oil level. Refer to Checking Engine Oil Level,
page 313.
7. Close the hood. Refer to 5.2.2 Closing Hood (Lower
Position), page 285.
