5. Clean around primary filter (A) head.
6. Disconnect the water in fuel (WIF) sensor (B) from the
bottom of the filter.
7. Turn valve (C) by hand counterclockwise and drain filter
into a container.
8. Remove filter (A) with a filter wrench.
9. Clean gasket mating surface.
Installing Primary Fuel Filter
For primary fuel filter replacement part number, refer to 8.2.4 Filter Part Numbers, page 462.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT prefill filter with fuel. Prefilling can contaminate the fuel system.
1. Lubricate the fuel filter O-ring with clean oil.

2. Screw the new filter (A) onto the filter mount until the
gasket contacts the filter head.
3. Tighten the filter an additional 3/4 turn by hand. Use a
25.4 mm (1 in.) wrench and torque it to 38 Nm
(28 lbf·ft).
4. Tighten the filter an additional 1/2 to 3/4 turn by hand.
IMPORTANT:
Do NOT use a filter wrench to install the filter.
Overtightening can damage the gasket and filter.
5. Reconnect water in fuel (WIF) sensor (B).
Removing Secondary Fuel Filter
DANGER
To avoid bodily injury or death from unexpected startup of the machine, always stop the engine and
remove the key from the ignition before leaving the operator’s seat for any reason.
1. Stop the engine and remove the key.
2. Open the hood. Refer to 5.2.3 Opening Hood (Highest Position), page 286.
