2.28 Dial-by-Name (Directory Search & Dial)
Description
A name, up to 16 characters, may be assigned to each station, and Station and System
Speed dial. In addition, each station may be assigned a 20-character name. When Names
are assigned, if using an iPECS IP or LDP phone, you may place an intercom call to another
station or select a Station or System Speed dial using the Name.
You select from one of three Dial-by-Name directories and enter characters employing two (2)
dial pad buttons for each character. The system finds and displays the nearest match to your
entries. You may continue entering characters or scroll the directory at any point using the
[VOL UP]/[VOL DOWN] button and selecting a name to call. The number associated with a
selected name is displayed by using the [TRANS/PGM] button.
Operation
iPECS IP & LDP Phones
1. Press the [SPEED] button twice.
To use Dial by Name using a [SPEED] button
2. Dial the desired directory, 1: Intercom, 2: User Speed Dial, 3: System Speed Dial.
3. Search the directory using the [VOL UP]/[VOL DOWN] button or by entering
characters. See Station Speed Dial for character entry procedure.
4. Press the [HOLD/SAVE] button to place the call.
1. Press the [DIR] soft button.
To use Dial by Name using the LIP-8000/8000E/9000 series w/3-soft buttons
2. Dial the desired directory, 1: User Speed Dial, 2: System Speed Dial 3: Intercom.
3. Search the directory using the Navigation buttons or by entering two digits for each
character, refer to Station Speed Dial for the Character Entry Chart.
4. Press the [HOLD/SAVE] button to place the call.
1. Press the [TRANS/PGM] button.
To toggle between the name and number display
1. Press the [TRANS/PGM] button.
To program your Station User Name
2. Dial “071”, the Attendant User Name Program code.
3. Dial the Station number.
4. Dial the name, up to 12 characters; refer to Station Speed Dial for The Character
Entry Chart.
5. Press [HOLD/SAVE].
1. Press the [DIR] soft button on LIP-8000/8000E/LIP-9000 that have soft &
navigation buttons.
To search name through LDAP
2. Dial ‘4’.
