6. EM GUI orientation
• Definition: A layer is one image stacked on top of another or a background.
• Features:
- Each mixer layer has two layers, Preview an d Program. F or complete flexibility, each layer can be as signed to either PIP
or Key functionality.

- The mixing Background layer (BG) has the lowest priority. Any input or inputs c an be used as a bac kground. This layer
visually appears behind all other P IPs and key s. The system can transition between any de fined background sources.
- On any mixing layer, a PIP layer appears over bac kgrounds and under o ther layers of higher p riority.
- PIP effects include mixes, smooth moves, resizing, ad justable aspect ratio, borders, mask and drop shadows.
- On any m ixer, a Key layer also appears over backgrounds and under other layers of higher priority. Key effects include
luminance keys and in future releases: split keys (key alpha or fill), inv ert keys a n d chroma keys.
• Adjustments:
- Border, Shadow, Lay er Size & Position, S ource Siz e & Position and Mask.
• Layer Effects
- Strobe, Flip, Freeze, Lay er Color Effects, Monochrome an d Invert.
