5.9 System menu > Ethernet
General
The Eth e rnet submenu allows the user to view and change certain Ethernet settings.

Using this menu, you can:
• Query the DHCP server for a valid IP address, or turn off this feature.
• Set a static IP address f or the Event Master unit, along with a subnet mask and gateway. This feature is available only if DHCP
is turned Off.
• View the unit’s IP address.
If there is no internet connection, or if a DHCP server has not be en found, the IP addres s is 000.000.000.000. In this case, the
system ignores the Ethernet port.
• View the Media Access Control (MAC ) address of the unit’s Ethernet port.
Query the DHCP server
In the Ethernet submenu, the de fault setting for DHCP is On.WhenDHCP is turned on, the system automatically quer ies the DHCP
server for a valid IP addre ss. If the unit r eceives an IP address, that address is displayed in the Ethern et submenu.
It can take several se conds to obtain an a ddress from the server. During this time, the S EL bu tton remains lit.
When DHCP is off, y ou can manually enter a static IP addres s, along with a sub net mask and gateway, in the Set St atic IP sub menu.
Consult your network adm inistrator for a valid IP address, su bnet mask and gateway.
Setting a static IP Address
When a DHC P server is not available, y ou can set the Event Master unit’s IP address, using the Set IP subm enu shown in the
following illustrat ion.

How to set a static IP address?
1. Ensure that the DHCP setting is Off.
2. From your ne twork administrator, obtain a valid IP addr ess, including subnet and gateway.
3. On the Ethernet subm enu, select Set S ta tic IP.
4. On the Set IP su bmenu, select SUB(net). The last character in the first field becomes available, as indicated by the empty field
and an underscore.
Note: You must chang e the SUB parameter b efore ed
iting either of the other par ameters.
5. Turn the ADJUST knob to change the first v alue. As you continue turning the knob, you can change all three values in this field.
Values range from 000 to 255 in all four fields.
6. Press SEL to accept your change in the first field. T he last ch aracter in the next field becomes available.
7. Continue until you have created the subnet value y ou want. Press SEL.
8. Make sim ilar chang es in the GW and IP fields.
9. Press SE L to accept your final change.
