Easy Ways to Control Instruments
Configuring an Instrument
The entries in the Instrument Properties dialog box are as follows:
3. Change the name to
scope, leave all the other defaults as they are, and
click
Advanced.... The Advanced Instrument Properties
dialog box appears as shown in Figure 3-8.
Name The name the instrument will be called in the program.
Choose a name that follows these syntax guidelines:
n Instrument names must start with an alphabetic
character, followed by alphanumeric characters or
underscore characters.
n You cannot use embedded blanks in instrument names.
Interface Type of interface. Choose from GPIB, Serial, GPIO, or
VXI.
Address The logical unit of the interface (GPIB is usually 7) plus
the local bus address of the instrument (a number from 0 to
31). If you leave the address at 0, it means that you are
developing without an instrument present.
Gateway Specifies whether instruments are controlled locally or
remotely. Use the default entry
This host to control
instruments locally, or enter a
Gateway for remote control.
