Hard Drive
Maintenance
Routine hard drive maintenance is required if patient exams are not deleted automatically on
your system. Automatic deletion occurs only if your system is connected to a PACS server and
automatic deletion is selected in the setups.
The Patient Directory can contain a maximum of 200 patient exams. Depending on the content
of each exam, the system’s hard drive capacity may be exceeded before reaching the 200-exam
limit. Philips strongly recommends that you or your system administrator perform disk mainte-
nance at regular intervals to prevent data loss. Suggested intervals are 50 patient exams or 50%
hard drive capacity.
If regular maintenance is neglected, the system displays a warning when the hard drive is nearing
its capacity. Hard drive maintenance should be performed immediately upon seeing the hard
drive capacity warning. Perform hard drive maintenance only after backing up all exam data to
DVD or a PACS server, and only when the system will not be needed for an hour or so.
CAUTIONS • Philips recommends not using the system during backup and deletion of patient exams.
• Back up all patient exams before deleting them. Deleted exams cannot be restored.
• Deleting a large number of patient exams may take as long as 1 hour. Ensure that the system
wil not be needed during the deletion process.
• Do not cancel the patient-exam deletion operation. Canceling the process is likely to result
in system errors.
