CSIP Level 1 Troubleshooting: System Software Tools
• The system is on for more than a month without a bootup.
• Disk fragmentation for only partitions D, E, and J exceeds preset levels.
NOTE There is no status bar displayed during use of the Defrag utility. When the Defrag pro-
cess has completed, the system is automatically rebooted. Do not attempt to use the
system while the defrag is in process. This may take several minutes.
Test and Utilities
Tests and utilities (TUs) are diagnostic tools used to determine the condition of the ultrasound
system hardware and software components. Test and utility results are logged in the System
Admin log (a test that generates errors, logs the error messages to the System Admin log file,
not to the Error log file).
Test description are provided in About this TU. Each TU description eventually indicates what is
tested, how it is tested, and how to interpret the results. The TU descriptions provide:
• Special execution instructions if necessary or critical - There may be an initial section with
special execution instructions. The text in this section is capitalized if it is critical to the test.
• Test Time - The approximate time it takes to execute this test, specified in seconds.
• Possible Failed FRU(s) - A list of the hardware and/or software FRUs impacted by this test.
FRUs are listed with a percentage to indicate probability of failure for that FRU and thus
would indicate the most likely suspect if the test fails. Hardware FRUs are identified by mod-
ule ID/FRU acronym.
• Assumptions - A list of what hardware and software components are needed and assumed to
be functional enough to execute this test and utilize its results. Common assumptions for all
tested FRUs are 1) that the tested FRU has the necessary power and clocks for the test to
