When working with tyres and wheels
Splinters, flying object When using certain tools
RISKS
Removal of tyres:
Wheels, rims, lock
rings fly off.
Fitting of tyres
Inflating tyres:
Wheels, rims, lock
rings fly off
Machine
scrubbing, turning:
Flyying splinters
PROTECTIVE
MEASURES
* Deflate tyres first of all
* Check that tyres,
rims and lock rings are
intact. Never repair a
damaged ring or lock
ring
* Place wheel in
protectivecage
* Tighten inflation
hose on tyre valve
with tensioner
* Step back from the
tyre with the pressure
gauge duringinflation.
* Check at the latest by
40 psi (3.bar) that the
lock ring is properly
lodged
* Use protective
screen or goggles
RISKS
Burr loosens from
drift or chisel.
Hammer head
loosens from
handle.
Saw jabs or
wobbles.
Flying objects
when machining
(e.g grinding machine,
cutting disc, lathe).
PROTECTIVE
MEASURES
* Check tools
* Grind where
necessary
* Check
* Repair or change
* Keep the supporting
hand away from
underside of saw
* Use protective
screen or goggles
