Determination of shims for setting of bearing
rolling torque (differential bearing) and backlash
(bevel gear set)
Required shims must be determined by means of
the read value (deviation/test dimension) and the
corresponding data in the following table!
(KRS – SET – RIGHT).
Read crown wheel deviation.
The test dimension „108“ is stamped into the crown
wheel rear side. If no – or + deviation is indicated, this
value corresponds to the actual value ”0” in the table
below.
According to this value, the required shims are
allocated in the table below.
Any – or + deviation of the test dimension caused by
production is also marked on the crown wheel rear
side (e.g. - 10 or - 20 or 10).
In accordance with this deviation, the required shims
are allocated in the table below.
1 = Bearing housing
2 = Shim (crown wheel side)
3 = Shim (diff. carrier side)
4 = Axle drive housing
Insert the determined shim (e.g. s = 1.3 mm) into the hole
of the axle drive housing and reset the bearing outer ring
until contact is obtained.
