14.10.9 Moment of inertia estimator
Overview
The moment of inertia estimator continuously corrects the value of the load moment of inertia
for the closed-loop control. In this way, the moment of inertia estimator minimizes overshoots
after speed changes.
The more precise the value of the moment of inertia in the converter, the lower the
overshoot after speed changes.

Description of function
The converter calculates the total moment of inertia of the load and motor. The calculation
comprises the following components:
• Actual speed
• Actual motor torque
• Friction torque of the load
