The application data unit (ADU) comprises the following elements:
• The Modbus application header is a 7-byte header.
The "Unit ID" byte has no signi󹪝cance for Modbus TCP.
• The protocol data unit (PDU) comprises the following components:
– The function code (FCode) indicates whether the controller is writing data to the
converter or reading data from the converter.
– The data (Data) depends on the FCode and can contain information such as the registers
or parameter numbers and parameter values.

Function code FC03 enables read access for the controller to one or more converter registers.
