4.5 Requirements for the protective conductor, converter in degree
of protection IP55
Overview
A high leakage current 󹪞ows through the protective conductor in converter operation. The
protective conductor of the converter must not be interrupted to ensure safe touch protection
in converter operation.
Requirement
WARNING
Electric shock due to interrupted protective conductor
The drive components conduct a high leakage current through the protective conductor.
Touching conductive parts when the protective conductor is interrupted can result in death or
serious injury.
• Comply with the requirements for the protective conductor.
Description
The leakage current via the protective conductor of the converter can exceed the following
values:
• 3.5mA DC current
• 10mA AC current
This results in minimum requirements for the protective conductor.




