10.1.2.3 Rank Sparing mode
Single-rank RDIMMs
– Same letter represents identical DIMMs (capacity, rank).
– Configurations are defined that the waste for spare-memory is minimized;
performance is not prioritized, i.e. channels will be filled with two DIMMs
before populating new channel.
– "x" must always be DIMM with more ranks than "z".
– If both DIMMs have same number of ranks, "x" represents DIMM with higher
capacity.
