Chapter 45  RIP Commands 
The Routing Information Protocol (RIP)is an interior gateway protocol (IGP) created for use in 
small and homogeneous networks. It is a distance-vector routing protocol that uses broadcast 
User Datagram Protocol (UDP) data packets to exchange routing information. 
45.1  router rip 
Description 
The router rip command is used to enable the RIP function and enter router 
configuration mode. To disable the RIP function, please use no router rip 
command.   
Syntax 
router rip 
no router rip 
Command Mode 
Global Configuration Mode 
Example 
Enable the RIP function and enter router configuration mode.

45.2  network 
Description 
The  network  command is used to enable RIP function on interfaces of the 
desired network. To disable the RIP protocol on these interfaces, please use 
no network command.
