2. Removing Steering Gear
(Tilt
steering)
1. Remove the set plate attaching
nut
and slides
the
set
plate toward the steering wheel.
2.
Loosen
the
bolt securing the flexible coupling
to
the
wonn
shaft.
Raise the front end
of
the vehicle and support with
stands.
3.
Remove the front wheel
4.
Remove the cotter pin and castellated
nut
attaching
the center
link
to the pitman
ann.
5. Disconnect the center
link
from the pitman arm
with the
puller
(49 0118
8SOC)
6.
Remove the
nut
holding the pitman arm and remove
the pitman arm with the
puller
(49
0223
69SE).
7. Remove the bolts and nuts retaining the steering
gear housing
to
the body.
8. Remove the gear housing assembly and lower the
vehicle.
