b. Replacing vacuum amplifier
Replace the vacuum amplifier
as
follows:
I.
Remove the altitude compensator.
2.
Vacuum tubes (disconnect)
3. Remove the nuts attaching the vacuum amplifier
to the bracket and remove the vacuum amplifier.

Note:
To
avoid
the
danger of being burned,
do
not
remove
the radiator drain plug while the engine and radiator
are
still hot.
l.
Drain the engine coolant.
2. Jack
up
the front end
of
vehicle and support with
stands.
3. Disconnect four
va
cuum sensing tubes.
4. Loosen and remove the water thermo valve.
5.
To
install, reverse the removal procedure. Before
installing it, apply the sealing tape to the water
thermo valve
to
prevent the coolant leakage.

Checking water thermo valve
J. Disconnect the vacuum
se
nsing tubes (water thermo
valve
~
vacuum amplifier, water thermo valve
,...,
No. 1 purge control valve) from the waler thermo
valve.
2. Start the engine and run
it
at
1,500
rpm.
3.
Check
to see that
no
vacuum is evident with finger
over the disconnected tubes
in
Step 1.
4.
Warm
up
the engine until the coolant temperature
becomes
50
±
4°C (122
±
39°
F)
and repeat the same
check as in the previo
us
Step
to see that vacuum
is
evident.
5.
If
necessary, replace the water thermo
valve
with
a new one.
