Steering Gear
Follow the disassembling procedures in the reverse
order.

Read the scale just when the worm shaft starts
to
turn.
After adjustment
is
made, tighten the lock
nut

Check the end clearance between the sector shaft
and the adjusting screw with a feeler gauge.
If
the clearance exceeds the limit, replace the
steering gear assembly.

Turn the worm shaft and place the rack in the center
position
of
the worm in the gear housing.
Insert the sector shaft and adjusting screw in
to
the
gear housing, being careful n
ot
to damage the oil
seal, and ensuring that the center
of
the sector
gear
is
in
alignment with the center
of
the rack.
