Two Rate Three Color Marker (trTCM) meters an IP Packet stream and marks
its packets based on two rates, Peak Information Rate (PIR) and Committed
Information Rate (CIR), and their associated burst sizes to be red (exceeds PIR),
yellow (exceeds CIR) or green (does not exceed CIR).
The following command is used to apply policing on the traffic class. The
committed-rate keyword is compulsory. The excess-burst keyword must be
given if exceed-action parameter is set. Action could be any one of the following:
1. Drop
2. Transmit
3. Set (marks the packet either in IP-precedence or IP-DSCP fields)
Notes:
1. Excess-Burst cannot be less than Committed-Burst.
2. Exceed-Action will be of no effect if Commit-Action is set to ‘drop’.
3. Violate-Action will be of no effect if Exceed-Action is set to ‘drop’.
4. Peak rate cannot be less than the Committed-rate.
5. It is preferable to configure committed burst/excess burst as 250 milliseconds of
the specified committed/peak rate.
For example, if committed rate is 500 kbps, then committed burst will be
((500000/8)*250/1000) = 15625 bytes.
6. Policing is allowed at leaf class only.
7. If Shaper is already configured, policer is not allowed in the same class.
8. Marking of the FECN, BECN, and DE bits is applicable only on the FR interface.
