OAM CONFIGURATION STEPS
This section lists the steps to be followed while configuring OAM on OmniAccess
5740 USG.
Step 1: Enter the Configuration Mode
ALU# configure terminal
ALU(config)#
Step 2: Configure an interface. Enter Interface Configuration Mode.
ALU(config)# interface <name>
Example:
ALU(config)# interface GigabitEthernet 3/0
ALU(config-if GigabitEthernet3/0)#
Step 3: Administratively bring up the interface
ALU(config-if <interface-name>)# no shutdown
Example:
ALU(config-if GigabitEthernet3/0)# no shutdown
Step 4: Enter the OAM Configuration Mode. See “To Enter OAM Configuration
Mode”
Step 5: Configure maintenance domain and a its identifier. See “To Configure
Maintenance Domain (MD)”
Step 6: Configure maintenance association and its identifier (MAID) within a MD.
See “To Configure MA (Maintenance Association)”
Step 7: Configure remote maintenance association end point and its identifier
within a MA. See “To Configure Remote MEP (Maintenance Association End
Point)”
Step 8: Configure time interval for the continuity check message. See “To
Configure CCM Interval” (Optional)
Step 9: Configure maintenance association end point identifier. See “To Configure
MEP (Maintenance Association End Point)”
Step 10: Administratively bring up a MEP. See “To Administratively Bring Up/
Down MEP”
