FRAME RELAY CONFIGURATION COMMANDS
This section provides details about the commands that are used in configuring
Frame Relay encapsulation.

O ENABLE FR ENCAPSULATION ON AN INTERFACE
This command is entered in the Interface Configuration mode.

XAMPLE
ALU(config-if Serial 0/0:0)# encapsulation frame-relay
ALU(config-if Serial 0/0:0)# no encapsulation frame-relay
Note: If the encapsulation of a serial interface is changed to FR, the QoS policy will be
detached from the interface if the depth of the QoS policy is more than three, after
giving a warning message. You have to decrease the policy depth to less than or
equal to three, and explicitly attach the policy to the interface.
Command (in ICM) Description
encapsulation frame-relay This command is entered in the Interface
Configuration mode.
This command is used to set
encapsulation on an interface to Frame
Relay.
no encapsulation frame-relay The “no” command resets the
encapsulation to its default.
The default encapsulation on a serial
interface is HDLC.
