LEMENTS OF OAM
The following figure shows graphical representation of the main elements of OAM:
Maintenance Domain (MD)
The network or the part of the network for which faults in connectivity can be
managed. The boundary of a MD is defined by a set of DoSAPs, each of
which can become a point of connectivity to a service instance.
Maintenance Domain Name
The identifier, unique over the domain for which CFM is to protect against
accidental concatenation of service instances, of a particular MD.
Maintenance Association (MA)
A set of MEPs, each configured with the same MAID and MD Level,
established to verify the integrity of a single service instance. MA can also be
thought of as a full mesh of maintenance entities among a set of MEPs so
configured.
