O DISABLE THE VALIDATION OF SOURCE IP ADDRESS
By default, the router verifies whether the incoming RIP updates originate from an
address on the same IP subnet as the interface it is received on. To disable this
behavior, use the following command in the Router Configuration mode.

Command (in ICM) Description
ip rip authentication mode
{md5|text}
Use the following command in the
Interface Configuration mode.
This command is used to configure the
authentication mode to be used by the
interface (or let it default mode).
The default authentication mode is
Plain Text authentication.
no ip rip authentication mode The ‘no’ command sets the
authentication mode to its default, i.e,
plain Text authentication.
Command (RCM mode) Description
no validate-update-source Disables the validation of the source IP
address of the incoming RIP routing
updates.
By default, RIP validates the source IP
address of incoming RIP routing
updates.
validate-update-source This command validates the source IP
address of incoming RIP routing
updates.
