NOTE: If the outside diameter of the wire insulation is smaller than the minimum of the
insulation diameter, install a buildup sleeve.
(2) Preparing the Wire
(a) If a color phase identification sleeve is specified, put a 1.0 inch long length of the applicable
phase color sleeve on the wire segment in accordance with the Identification of Wire, Cable,
Wire Harnesses and Connectors section of this document.
NOTE: Do not shrink the phase identification sleeve until the termination is completed.
(b) Select a post insulation sleeve from Table 3/HIGH TEMPERATURE 200º POST
INSULATION SLEEVE WITH SEALANT RINGS.

(d) Select an insulation buildup sleeve from Table 4/INSULATION BUILD-UP SLEEVE . The 2/0
-1/0 Copalum terminals insulation buildup for a 2 AWG wire can be either one layer of 3M
cold shrink (8443-6.5 cut to 1 inch long) or three layers of M23053/12 sleeving.
