PORT Messages
Error Message PORT-5-IF_DOWN_TCP_KEEP_ALIVE_EXPIRED: Interface [chars] is down(TCP
conn. closed - Keep alive expired)
Explanation TCP session to the FCIP peer got closed due to loss of TCP keep alive.
Recommended Action This may be due to loss of IP connectivity. The following commands will
provide the IP address of the peer and the route used to connect to this FCIP peer: show interface,
show ip route. Do a trace route to check the connectivity to the peer using the command:traceroute
ipaddr.
Error Message PORT-5-IF_DOWN_TCP_MAX_RETRANSMIT: Interface [chars] is down(TCP
conn. closed - retransmit failure)
Explanation The system has detected that an interface is down due to maximum retransmission
failure.
Recommended Action This may be due to loss of IP connectivity. The following commands will
provide the IP address of the peer and the route used to connect to this FCIP peer: show interface,
show ip route. Do a trace route to check the connectivity to the peer using the command:traceroute
ipaddr.
Error Message PORT-5-IF_DOWN_TCP_PERSIST_TIMER_EXPIRED: Interface [chars] is
down(TCP conn. closed - Persist timer expired)
Explanation TCP session to the FCIP peer closed because TCP persist timer expired.
Recommended Action This may be due to loss of IP connectivity. The following commands will
provide the IP address of the peer and the route used to connect to this FCIP peer: show interface,
show ip route. Do a trace route to check the connectivity to the peer using the command:traceroute
ipaddr.
Error Message PORT-5-IF_DOWN_TOO_MANY_INTR: Interface [chars] is down (Error
disabled - too many interrupts)
Explanation The port has received too many interroruption in the hardware.
Recommended Action Check the attached device; replace it if needed.
Error Message PORT-5-IF_DOWN_TOO_MANY_INVALID_FLOGIS: Interface [chars] is
down(Suspended due to too many invalid flogis
Explanation The port is suspended due to receiving a large number of invalid FLOGI's.
Recommended Action Check the HBA and perform a shut, followed by a no shut on the port.
Error Message PORT-5-IF_DOWN_UPGRADE_IN_PROGRESS: Interface [chars] is down
(Linecard upgrade in progress)
Explanation An upgrade of the line card software is in progress.
Recommended Action No action is required.
