CAUTION
MAKE SURE THAT YOU DO NOT TURN THE WIRE WHILE IT IS IN THE
TERMINAL CRIMP BARREL. IF YOU TURN THE WIRE, DAMAGE CAN
OCCUR.
(c) Crimp the terminal. Refer to Subject 20-30-14 Figure 2 and Figure 3.
Make sure that:
1) The crimp certification mark is in the correct position.
2) The crimp certification mark has the correct shape.
(4) Post Insulating Procedures for 2297683-1, 1958058-1 and 1958-054-1 Terminals.
(a) Clean the terminal and the wire insulation area using a wiper and solvent.
(b) Using #320 to #150 emery cloth and a circumferential motion, lightly abrade 2.00 ±0.25
inches of the wire insulation from the end of the terminal to a dull finish on the bonding area
of cable jacket.
(c) Wipe off the loose particles with clean wiper and solvent. Do not touch cleaned areas with
fingers.
(d) Locate the post insulation materials that were assembled on the prepared wire.
(e) Install the Zone B insulation sleeve as follows:
NOTE: Zone A not used.
1) Push the Zone B BACT63E insulation sleeve forward until the forward end of the sleeve is
aligned with the rear of the tongue of the terminal lug. Refer to Figure 2.
2) Hold the sleeve in position and starting at the tongue end shrink the sleeve with a 750°F or
higher heat gun and reflector (required). Refer to Subject 20-10-14. Make sure a reflector is
used with the heat gun.
3) Continue heating area where adhesive ring is located for two to three minutes, depending
on wire size, until adhesive melts and flows. Adhesive will form a bead or fillet around the
sleeve end.
4) Do not remove any excess adhesive that flows from the sleeve.
(f) Install the Zone C transition barrel with A-A-59163 insulation tape as follows. Refer to:
