T045 - Drive TapeAlert 20 – Clean Now
Description GUI Description: The drive is requesting cleaning before it can be used
again.
Explanation: System determines that the tape drive has issued a
TapeAlert 20, indicating that the tape drive requires cleaning before it can be
used again.
Detection Scenarios Tape drive issues a TapeAlert 20, which is recognized by the library during the
continuous 4-second polling cycle of tape drive status.
Root Causes Tape drive has determined that there is a cleaning need per its internal
algorithms.
Service Resolution
Steps
1 Perform D
R018 - Resolve Drive Cleaning Requirement on page 375.
2Use the Details option in the RAS ticket to identify which tape drive reported
the RAS ticket.
3 Clear the RAS ticket.
4 Either manually move a known good cleaning tape to the tape drive, or
perform a cleaning operation in the tape backup software.
Possible CRUs/FRUs Note: Read and perform all resolution steps before dispatching any parts.
No library CRU or FRU is involved. Rather, this is an indication that the tape
drive requires a cleaning tape to continue. Use a known good cleaning tape to
clean the tape drive.
