264 Troubleshooting the Tape Library
T066
T066 - Drive Power Failure
Description GUI Description: The library detected a drive power failure within a library
module.
Explanation: The library detects that a tape drive power fuse located on a
drive sled interconnect board (DSIB) has failed. Each module has a DSIB card
to provide an electrical connection point for the tape drive sleds. Each DSIB
has a replaceable fuse for the overall tape drive power bus. This protects the
core library hardware components from some type of short or over current
problem in one or more tape drives.
Detection Scenarios Monitoring of voltage divider indicates partial or complete voltage drop.
Root Causes • Board-level hardware failures.
• Permanent or temporary short circuit conditions in tape drives, tape drive
sleds, docking connectors, etc.
Service Resolution
Steps
1 Perform RR001 - Remove and Replace Drive Sled
on page 420.
2 Remove all drive sleds, close the RAS ticket, reboot the library, and see if
the RAS ticket reoccurs.
3 If the RAS ticket reoccurs with all drive sleds out, check the fuse. If the fuse
is blown, replace per DR094 - Resolve Drive Power Fuse Failure
on
page 409.
4 If the RAS ticket does not reoccur with all sleds out, install one drive sled
at a time, checking to see if a RAS ticket occurs for each one to see which
drive sled is causing the RAS ticket. Replace the defective drive sled.
Possible CRUs/FRUs Note: Read and perform all resolution steps before dispatching any parts.
Replace FRUs as needed based on Service Resolution Steps above.
