260 Troubleshooting the Tape Library
T063
T063 - WWN Label Change
Description GUI Description: The robot cannot read the WWN or detected a new library
WWN.
Explanation: The library logic learns the library WWN of the system by
reading an abbreviated base WWN base barcode label. This is done at first
boot up from a “cleared to ship” condition, to establish the WWN. It is also
done on subsequent bootups to verify that the persisted information on the
library compact flash file system matches the physical library module. The
library will report a problem when it cannot read the WWN or it reads a WWN
value that does not match the persisted library configuration. A different
motion-related problem will be reported if motion is preventing the proper
reading of the WWN.
Detection Scenarios At first bootup from clear to ship, the library must establish the WWN for the
first time. There may be no WWN in system memory at this point.
At any power up, the system memory already has a WWN established for
the LCB.
An LCB is improperly swapped into a different physical module, and the
system reads the physical module WWN label.
The compact flash from a system already in use is placed into a new
replacement module.
Root Causes LCBs are swapped between libraries.
Label is damaged.
Barcode scanner is not working properly.
Entire communication path to barcode scanner is not working properly.
Library module is replaced.
Service Resolution
Steps
1 Perform DR007 - Resolve Barcode Scanner Issue
on page 369.
2Use the Details option in the RAS ticket to identify which label is causing the
RAS ticket.
3 Open the main door and inspect the label for damage.
4 If the label is not damaged, and the library is at 400G library firmware code
or later, run the IVT - Picker test from the Library Tests menu accessed on
the operator panel. If the picker test passes, the picker is most likely not the
issue and the LCB may need to be replaced.
Note: IVT is optimized for library firmware versions 520G and above and
libraries built after July 1, 2008 (serial numbers with last four digits 8602 and
above).
If your library was built on or before July 1, 2008, and you are running
firmware version 520G or later, you will not be able to run the IVT test,
even though the selection is available.
If your library was built on or before July 1, 2008, and you are running
firmware version 500G or earlier, you can run the test, but it is not
recommended because it may produce erroneous results.
