DR043 - Resolve Invalid Cleaning Cartridge
This DR provides customer resolution steps for T085 on page 286.
Problem: While performing inventory, the library determined that an unknown tape is occupying a cleaning
slot. In order for a tape cartridge to be a valid cleaning tape, it must be imported as a cleaning tape via the
library operator interface. It is likely that this invalid tape cartridge was manually imported while the library
was powered off, or when the main access door was opened.
1 View the ticket details to determine the barcode label of the invalid cleaning tape and the coordinate
where it is stored.
2 Open the library main access door(s) and remove this tape cartridge.
3 Import a valid cleaning tape into the library to allow cleaning operations to function properly.
4 You have three options:
a. Select Close to close the ticket now.
b. Select Exit to leave the ticket open for future troubleshooting.
c. Select Back to return to the Diagnostic Resolution.
DR044 - Resolve Drive TapeAlert 4 - Media Error
This DR provides customer resolution steps for T034 on page 232.
Problem: The tape cartridge is suspect due to failing tape operations. Data may be at risk, based on the
condition of the tape cartridge. This problem may be caused by:
• The specific tape
• The specific drive
• The interaction of the tape and drive
1 Note the ticket details to determine the drive location and reason details.
2 If the reason details do not indicate an undetermined root cause of the issue, but actually isolated the
problem to the drive or tape cartridge due to saved historical information, consider media or drive
replacements to prevent the issue in the future.
3 If the noted ticket details list drive error code 7075 or 7076 for a drive, this means that the media does
not have an End of Data (EOD) written to tape and data can no longer be written or appended to tape.
Either rewrite all existing data on tape and then reformat and reuse the tape cartridge for new write
operations.
4 If the drive error code lists error 7122 for a drive, the Format Identification Dataset (FID) is not properly
recorded, and data cannot be written to tape. The tape cartridge does not contain data and needs to be
discarded/replaced.
5 If the steps above do not apply, check whether ticket T05
6 - Drive TapeAlert 39 - Diagnostic Required,
is also reported by this tape drive. If the same drive reports ticket T05
6 - Drive TapeAlert 39 - Diagnostic
Required for the currently loaded tape cartridge, close this ticket and follow the resolution steps for ticket
T05
6 - Drive TapeAlert 39 - Diagnostic Required.
6 If ticket T05
6 - Drive TapeAlert 39 - Diagnostic Required is not reported, retry the operation with the
same tape cartridge in a different drive, or if a different drive is not available, clean this drive and retry
the operation. If the retry attempt fails, copy all required data to a new tape cartridge and discontinue
use of the faulty tape cartridge.
