T102
T102 - FC I/O Blade Host Port Failover
Description GUI Description: A host port failed over to the alternate link.
Explanation: The Host Port Failover (HPF) function has occurred. When HPF
is enabled, the Fibre Channel (FC) I/O blade constantly monitors the host port
connections for health status. If problems are encountered with the link, with
communication, or with high error rates, the FC blade will automatically fail
over to the designated secondary port. A warning ticket is generated to notify
the user that the failover to the secondary port occurred properly. If a failover
has occurred, the original problem on the primary port may or may not be
resolved at this point. The failure of the primary port could be a permanent
failure, or an intermittent condition. After the connection is corrected and re-
established, a user must intervene and manually re-enable the primary port
again.
Detection Scenarios When the FC I/O blade automatically switches to another target port on the
host because one has failed.
Root Causes Cable not plugged in.
Cable is faulty.
Host is down or not responding.
Port on the FC I/O blade is not functioning.
