T086
T086 - Inaccessible Tape Cartridge
Description GUI Description: A tape cartridge is located in a storage location that is not
accessible by the library robot.
Explanation: In library configurations 23U or taller, the two storage slots in
the top row of the right side of the library (columns 4 and 5) become
inaccessible by the library’s Model 1 robot (not Model 2 robot). When the
vertical stack of library modules becomes 23U or taller, the Model 1 robot is no
longer adequately supported by the y-racks to get and put tape cartridges
from these two specific storage slots. All other storage slots in the library
remain accessible. This RAS ticket is produced when a user manually inserts
a tape cartridge into one of these slots and the library detects the tape
cartridge during inventory. The library itself will not load a tape cartridge into
one of these slots via host or operator panel commands. The slots themselves
will not be presented as usable in library partitions. Although the library cannot
reliably get and put tape cartridges from these storage locations, the library
can still discover barcode-labeled tape cartridges in these slots during normal
inventory operations. Because these slots are inaccessible, they are not part
of the library’s inventory, and the RAS ticket WILL NOT list their locations in
the details. It will simply list “None”
Detection Scenarios In libraries 23U or taller, the library discovers a barcode-labeled tape cartridge
in one of the two top slots in column 4 or 5 during any inventory.
Root Causes A user manually places a tape cartridge in the top two slots of column 4 or 5 in
a library that is at least 23U in height.
Resolution 1 Perform DR050 - Re
solve Invalid Tape Location] on page 391.
2 This RAS ticket should only occur in libraries 23U, 32U, and 41U in height.
Open the main door on the CM and ensure that no media is in positions
[0, 4, 1] or [0, 5, 1]. Remove the media and clear the RAS ticket.
Possible CRUs/FRUs None
