378 Troubleshooting the Tape Library
3 If the same drive reports T034 for the currently loaded tape cartridge, media can no longer be read and/
or written, or performance is severely degraded. Attempt to copy any required data from this tape, and
retire the tape from service.
4 If T03
4 is not reported, close this ticket and follow the resolution steps for any other tickets that may
have been reported by this drive.
5 You have three options:
a. Select Close to close the ticket now.
b. Select Exit to leave the ticket open for future troubleshooting.
c. Select Back to return to the Diagnostic Resolution.
DR025 - Resolve Stuck I/E Station Sensor
This DR provides customer resolution steps for T144 on page 343.
Problem: The library control firmware detected an invalid I/E station door sensor state. Actual I/E station
door closure events may be detected prematurely, resulting in premature I/E station calibration attempts
and calibration failures, or may not be detected at all, skipping any calibration and inventory operations.
1 Identify the library module listed in the ticket and open its I/E station door.
2 Close the ticket.
3 Open the main access door to view the I/E Station Lock Assembly of the opened I/E station.
4 Inspect both I/E Station Lock Assembly sensor switches, located in the front and rear of the I/E Station
Lock Assembly.
5 Look for obstructions or misalignment causing the rear sensor switch actuator lever to be held down.
6 Open and close the I/E Station Safety Door multiple times to view operation of the front sensor switch.
7 If no issue is found, or if interference was identified and corrected, close the I/E station and main access
door and wait for the library to complete initialization.
8 Open and close the I/E station door and verify that the I/E station is being calibrated and scanned.
9 If the I/E station is not being calibrated and inventoried, or the ticket is displayed again, contact Service
for further assistance.
10 You have three options:
a. Select Close to close the ticket now.
b. Select Exit to leave the ticket open for future troubleshooting.
c. Select Back to return to the Diagnostic Resolution.
DR026 - Resolve Unsupported Module Configuration
This DR provides customer resolution steps for T075 on page 273.
Problem: When barcode-scanning the module serial numbers inside the library, the library firmware
detected a module configuration that is not supported by the library firmware. The module identification
labels are either invalid or not being read correctly.
1 Contact Service to determine if your module configuration is supported.
2 If the module configuration is supported, ensure that the barcode reader is scanning the labels correctly.
If the reader is functioning properly, new library firmware may be available that supports your
configuration.
