396 Troubleshooting the Tape Library
Problem: The LCB detected an Ethernet connection failure with the FC I/O blade.
1 Note the ticket details, to determine FC I/O blade location and failure reason.
2 If a CAN and Ethernet connection failure is detected, ensure that the FC I/O blade is installed properly,
fully latched, secured, and powered on.
3 If the FC I/O blade has been removed from the library, select Setup > FC I/O Blades > FC I/O Blade
Control > Remove to exclude the FC I/O blade from library-initiated health check monitoring.
4 If only an Ethernet connectivity issue is reported, ensure that the Ethernet cable is properly connected
to both the appropriate port in the 9U Expansion Module that contains the FC I/O blade, and to one of
the 4 ports on the library control blade. Inspect the Ethernet cable for any damage, and disconnect and
reconnect as needed.
5 If the problem still persists, contact Service for further assistance.
6 You have three options:
a. Select Close to close the ticket now.
b. Select Exit to leave the ticket open for future troubleshooting.
c. Select Back to return to the Diagnostic Resolution.

DR065 - Resolve FC I/O Blade Temperature Alert
This DR provides customer resolution steps for T105 on page 306.
Problem: A Fibre Channel I/O blade temperature exceeded the operating temperature limit.
1 Check the temperature of the room in which the library is installed. Ensure that it is below 32 ºC
(89.6 ºF).
2 Ensure that there are no open tickets indicating a problem with the FC I/O blade fan. If so, resolve that
ticket first, as a temperature alert can be caused by a faulty fan.
